Jewellery Care
Silver and Brass Jewellery
Silver and brass are both brilliant and robust materials that last centuries, however they do naturally oxidise over time. To keep it bright and shiny remove it before bathing, applying lotions or perfumes. If you notice it tarnishing give the item a buff with a polishing cloth or some cream polish and a lint free cloth, such as an old glasses wipe. Store your jewellery in a cotton bag or box in-between wears in a cool dry place.
Scratches naturally occur over time and it’s nice to think of them as part of the story of the jewellery, however if you’d like the surface of your jewellery to be restored then this service can be provided at a small charge + all postage fees, simple email us to arrange the process.
Gold plated Jewellery
All gold plated jewellery is solid sterling silver plated with fairmined gold. It’s important to avoid scratching or bumping the surface of plated jewellery as this can damage the layer of gold. To keep it bright and shiny remove it before bathing, applying lotions or perfumes. When necessary gently clean it with warm soapy water and a soft lint free cloth, such as an old glasses wipe. Store your jewellery in a cotton bag or box in-between wears in a cool dry place.
Should your gold plating wear thin, which can occur after a few years of constant use, we encourage you to contact a local jeweller to arrange a re-plating service or get in touch with us and we can re-plate the item at a small charge + all postage fees.
